SHANNON

Shannon came from humble beginnings. Born as the ninth fluffy little duckling to Mrs. Mallard (of Make Way For Ducklings fame), Shannon spent the early stages of her life living on the lagoon in the Boston Public Gardens. Shannon’s favorite thing to do as a duck was to eat the peanuts the nice people would throw from the swan boats. One day, an evil wizard decided to take a ride in the swan boats. He saw how cute of a duckling Shannon was, and pulled over his boat next to the Mallard’s nest. He asked Mrs. Mallard for how much he could buy Shannon. Mrs. Mallard refused to answer the evil wizard (not to be rude of course, ducks just can’t speak) so the wizard got very angry. He decided that if he couldn’t have Shannon, the Mallard family couldn’t either! He fed Shannon a magic peanut that transformed her into a human girl and then disappeared into thin air. The Mallards were heartbroken. There was no way that a nest made for ducklings could accommodate a human girl, so they gave her to a nice family that was visiting Boston for the day, the Carneys. The Carney family took Shannon home to a strange land called Mansfield. It took a little while to get used to, but Shannon fit in just fine with the Carneys, who gave her the nickname “Duckie” so she would always remember where she came from. The Carney family even encouraged her to try out for a local Improv troupe called Improv Soup! Shannon is very excited to start performing and has even invited Mrs. Mallard to her first show!
